Hand Foot Mouth Disease
Keeping our children healthy is always a top priority. One illness that continues to affect young children, especially in group settings like schools and daycares, is Hand Foot Mouth Disease (HFMD). You might have also heard of it as Hand, Foot, and Mouth Disease.
HFMD is a highly contagious viral illness that spreads through droplets from coughs, sneezes, and even contact with feces. It is most common among young children, but adults can get it too.
Early symptoms often look like the flu – fever, sore throat, and fatigue – followed by mouth sores and skin rashes on the hands and feet and even buttocks.
So, how can we protect our children?
-
-
- Encourage good hygiene habits, like regular handwashing.
- Teach children to avoid touching their faces.
- Limit contact with anyone showing symptoms.
-
If your child shows signs of HFMD, it is essential to keep them at home, consult a doctor, and ensure they stay well-hydrated and nourished.
To help raise awareness and keep everyone informed, we’ve created a FREE downloadable HFMD awareness poster. It’s perfect for printing and pasting in your homes, classrooms, and/or common areas to remind everyone how to stay safe.
Let’s work together to stop the spread!
